Summary: 

Under the direction and supervision of the owner, and in accordance with the business plan of Wauwatiki, the cook shall be responsible for preparing menu items for guests and back of house food preparation by performing all service duties listed below.    

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform excellent service to all guests, staff, and vendors
  • Communicate in a friendly, clear and honest manner with all guests and staff
  • Display professionalism by following dress code, keeping conversation appropriate and maintaining friendly attitude
  • Proper preparation of all menu items for each guest
  • Ensure timely preparation of all food
    • Goal is no longer than 20 minutes between ticket print and food bell ringing, with a maximum of 30 minutes when restaurant is at full capacity
  • Work closely and cooperatively with back house manager(s) to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Maintain professional relationships with all staff
  • Read whiteboard in kitchen at beginning of every shift 
  • Perform all assigned duties on prep list
  • Maintain professional attitude during high stress situations
  • Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures with all prep items
    • Hand-washing procedures
    • Sanitation of prep area 
    • Food handling
    • Proper food cooling procedures
    • Proper food cooking temperatures
    • Proper food storage
    • Proper dish cleaning procedures
    • Proper hygiene

 

 

 

    • Safe handling of all kitchen equipment i.e. slicer, knives, food processor, oven, burners, griddle top, stick blender, mixer, microwave, toaster
  • Follow recipe cards step by step
  • Possess knowledge of menu and POS system
  • Answer phones with proper etiquette and take to-go orders and messages accurately
  • Conversation should be professional and kept at a quiet level
  • Possess knowledge of front of house beverages, floor map and guest service 
  • Perform cleaning items as assigned by manager
  • Fill out prep book immediately after completing every prep item
  • Properly initial, rotate and date food
  • Maintain kitchen order for all items i.e. food, dishes, utensils, cooler and freezer items
  • Perform all cleaning duties as assigned by manager
  • Perform daily and weekly cleaning items and initial cleaning book appropriately
  • Communicate with manager to ensure all duties are completed before clocking out and leaving
  • Participate in and be present for all staff meetings
  • Perform other duties assigned by owner
  • Follow all policies and procedures as set forth by Wauwatiki practices
